General Description

Highly technical support position in the daily operation and control of the city information technology systems, computer infrastructure, and related equipment. Work involves the execution of special programs, accomplishing backups, monitoring and allocating system resources, repairing equipment malfunctions, and supporting end-users. Work is performed under the general supervision of the IT Director.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for managing data and software.
  • Responsible for effective problem identification, troubleshooting, and problem-solving for an array of software and hardware systems.
  • Oversee the management of the camera system and mobile devices (MDM).
  • Install and maintain PCs and other computer equipment and software to include correcting equipment malfunctions, installing of technology equipment and programs, system backups, supporting enterprise application programs, maintaining records, documenting problems/repairs to computer hardware and software and training of employees. 
  • Create, modify, and delete user's computer access account. 
  • Travel to various City facilities to support computer equipment. 
  • Respond to end-users’ requests, via phone, e-mail, and/or in person, with appropriate answers/solutions to computer related issues, including in house training and “help desk” user services.  
  • Assist IT Director with reviewing existing systems and recommending new programs and upgrades to maintain effective current applications. 
  • During occasions of local emergencies, this position shall be required to perform emergency tasks including protecting and continuing operations of City-wide computer systems, which may result in extended work hours. 
  • Maintain Police Department’s Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) compliance and performs Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) audits. 
  • Serves as the Lead Agency Security Officer (LASO). This is a CJIS requirement and training is provided.
  • Responsible for being the Department’s 800Mhz Representative.
  • Maintain electronic security systems (door entry locks, remote entry locks, and intercom systems)
  • Perform related work as required or directed.
  • Responsible for connecting and maintaining network communications when the City’s Emergency Operations Center(s) is activated. Must ensure continuity of network operations; identify, and ready critical data, equipment, and files for secure storage.

Minimum Qualifications, Licenses and Certifications

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older; and
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems, or related field or equivalent certification; bachelor's degree preferred; and
  • Three (3) years’ experience in computer operations, hardware and software installation and maintenance and/or database administration, cybersecurity, computer system maintenance, programming, networking, telecommunication, and/or video communications; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities and Environmental Conditions

  • Thorough knowledge of information technology, database administration, cybersecurity computing terminology, computer hardware, software, and operations that is required to support Windows systems in a Windows Active Directory environment. 
  • Knowledge and application of Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft SQL Server, and mail systems, including M365.   
  • Ability to be self-motivated and detail-oriented with good analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.  
  • Must have excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to serve customers, resolve issues, and maintain effective working relationships.  
  • Knowledge of video security systems, wireless communication systems, cell phone and other handheld communications devices and networks.
  • Knowledge of and ability to analyze audio and video files. 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS
  • Valid Florida Driver'sLicense.
  • Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC)/Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Certification preferred or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of hire.  Training will be provided by the City and certification is required to work in the Police Department.

Works primarily indoors in an office environment and may occasionally work outside and will be exposed to weather elements.
