Join our Information Technology Bureau

Support our Technology Services Section by providing important customer support services and hands-on and remote technical support for customers at the District. Customer support services include PC life cycle replacements, installation, upgrades, support, and troubleshooting of all District hardware and software applications, and troubleshooting network access for District staff. You’ll have the chance to work with a wide range of teams in this promising position, each of which plays a vital role in our efforts to preserve our most valuable natural resources. Starting Compensation:

Desktop Support Specialist 2: $22.13 - $28.20
Desktop Support Specialist 3: $23.56 - $30.03
Desktop Support Specialist 4: $25.76 - $35.06

The starting salary range for the Computer User Support Specialist position reflects the minimum to 50% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions 

Desktop Support Specialist 2-4 
  • Performs operational tasks necessary to maintain customer hardware and software availability.
  • Install and Configure desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and associated Peripherals and related Software.
  • Provides novice to mid-level hands-on and remote support for customers requiring access to applications throughout the District, including onsite technical assistance to End Users, break fixes, data migration, hardware refreshes, etc.  
  • Resolve technical issues using information technology best practices, system documentation, and vendor support.
  • Manage ticket queue and ensure tickets are resolved and closed within the defined service level agreement. Respond to end-user requests for updates on ticket status and promptly follow up.
  • Works with various internal and external teams on technical projects.
Desktop Support Specialist 4

In addition to the functions listed above:

  • Manage escalated tickets that require advanced technical skills or administrative permissions.
  • Support endpoint administration, which involves anti-malware and anti-virus requirements, patch management, and deployments using tools such as Intune, PDQ, and Azure.
  • Provide technical leadership to the desktop support team, including developing processes and procedures to ensure consistent, positive outcomes.

Working Conditions

Physical, Visual Acuity Requirements:  Medium Work, Close Acuity, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing & Repetitive Motion 

Working Environmental Conditions:  Employee works in a standard office environment. Requires ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Frequent trips to service offices and other locations are required.

Required Credentials for Desktop Support Specialists Opportunities

Desktop Support Specialist 2

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and four (4) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role OR Associates degree and two (2) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role 
  • Valid driver's license

Desktop Support Specialist 3

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role OR Associates degree and four (4) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role OR Bachelors degree and two (2) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role
  • Valid driver's license

Desktop Support Specialist 4 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role OR Associates degree and six (6) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role OR Bachelors degree and four (4) years related work experience in customer service or supporting customers in an information technology role
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Credentials for Desktop Support Specialists Opportunities

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or related

Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week out of the Brooksville, FL office. This position is eligible for overtime for hours worked over 40 hours, in a week.

Travel Required

Yes. Some travel, using District vehicle, within District's coverage area.
