The System Administrator is responsible for managing and securing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of critical systems. This role involves deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security tools, managing access controls, monitoring system performance, and implementing security best practices. This position works closely with other security engineers, IT teams, and business units to enforce security policies, respond to incidents, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.

Compensation
$94,400 - $135,800
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The salary range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid.  All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive salaries that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. What you’ll do 
- Administer and maintain servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure optimal performance.
 - Install, configure, and update software and hardware components for systems.
 - Monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.
 - Ensure system security by implementing best practices for firewalls, antivirus software, backups, and user access controls.
 - Provide technical support for users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
 - Perform system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
 - Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring proper access control and security compliance.
 - Collaborate with IT teams to plan and implement software and system upgrades or enhancements.
 - Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and other relevant information for team use.
 - Assist with network management, ensuring seamless connectivity across the organization.
 - Respond to system alerts and perform root cause analysis on issues to prevent recurrence.
 - Manage cloud-based infrastructure and services (if applicable), ensuring integration with on-premises systems.
 - Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
 - Must be accessible via mobile services (i.e. text, voice, data) during non-working hours for upgrades, system outages, and configuration changes.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to follow Project Management practices for implementing projects and changes.
 - Skilled in maintaining technical documentation and designing procedures for new technology.
 - Capable of preparing system charts, workflow diagrams, and cost-benefit analysis summaries.
 - Strong leadership and meeting participation skills.
 - Ability to stay updated on technology developments.
 - Proven experience in mentoring and providing training.
 - Skilled in managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
 - Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
 - Understanding of essential business operations.
 - In-depth knowledge of infrastructure architecture (database, messaging, security, OS, networks, storage, business continuity/disaster recovery).
 - Ability to evaluate infrastructure processes and conduct gap analysis.
 - Familiar with industry architecture standards.
 - Proficient in Change Management/Release processes.
 
What you need 
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree or completion of a Computer Science Program from a Technical Trade School preferred. Technical training with certification in assigned technology is required as applicable. 
 - Minimum of five years’ experience in I.T. and/or application development required.
 - Previous experience with development and implementation of custom integrations and workflows within the Okta platform preferred.
 - Experience in creating and maintaining Okta inline hooks and widget configuration changes: This includes setting up and managing various types of inline hooks such as token inline hooks, user import inline hooks, SAML assertion inline hooks, and more. Additionally, proficiency in configuring and customizing Okta widgets to enhance user experience and meet specific organizational needs preferred
 - Experience with day-to-day administration of identity security systems Okta, MS Entra AD, etc preferred.   
 - Demonstrated experience with managing assigned technology by performing regular and critical maintenance tasks within defined service levels preferred.
 
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
 - Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other IT-related tools.
 - Ability to work in a standard office environment, including attending meetings in person or virtually.
