Summary of Responsibilities:
The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing networks, implementing and supporting systems and maintain related hardware for internal operations. The IT Systems Administrator will keep the computer desktops and laptops running smoothly; review and analyze software and hardware needs, recommend changes and upgrades where applicable to provide efficient, effective, and timely service to users in the firm.
Essential Functions:
- Provide superb technical system and user support by responding to calls, email, and personal requests for technical support.
- Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure a timely resolution.
- Offer guidance and help users solve common software problems. Helps staff with computer/printer problems (hardware and software).
- Resolve technical problems, detect patterns of issues, and coordinate with staff regarding persistent problems.
- Provide assistance with documenting software program/hardware customizations and procedures.
- Sets up new users on network and provides access to appropriate software.
- Sets up print queues, network printers, and menu options and changes.
- Keeps inventory of computer equipment.
- Keeps track of what software the firm uses, and installs all software updates.
- Performs minor repairs to equipment, maintains hardware in good working order.
- Maintains backup system of all computer functions; designs and establishes disaster recovery procedures to ensure retrieval on all data and system software.
- Oversees the data base administration function to ensure data integrity is maintained.
- Writes and keeps network documentation current.
- Researches, evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations to management on the hardware and software needs of the firm.
- Recommend and maintain policies and rights/security within server environment
- Assist other team members in troubleshooting difficult or time-sensitive problems
Education, Experience and Skills Required
- BS/BA degree.
- 5-7 years of experience as a network administrator and/or computer support technician or other relevant experience.
- Proven customer service and problem solving skills, providing remote support services.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Highly organized, with excellent prioritization, planning and time management skills.
- Executes assignments of a confidential nature; requires ability to keep matters confidential.
- Strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
