About the Role
We’re looking for a Junior Systems Administrator to join our IT team and help keep MediaLab running smoothly. You’ll provide day-to-day support for employees, assist with systems administration, and contribute to infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role where you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of IT environments, from workstation builds to server and network management.
MediaLab maintains a fully remote workforce. However, this role requires the Junior Systems Administrator to live within commuting distance of our datacenter and Print locations, as you will occasionally need to be on-site for tasks such as server or workstation configuration. Typical site visits are once or twice per week.
This position is a great fit for someone with a foundation in IT support who’s eager to deepen their skills and grow in systems administration—whether you’re early in your IT career or making a career change into technology.
What You’ll Do
- Provide daily IT support for employees (hardware, software, accounts).
- Help monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, workstations, and networks.
- Support backups, updates, and patch management.
- Manage support tickets and escalate as needed.
- Assist with IT projects, including:
-
- Workstation builds and deployments.
-
- Render farm management and maintenance.
-
- VPN configuration and management.
-
- Infrastructure and security improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- Approximately 1–2 years of IT support or systems administration experience, or equivalent technical exposure.
- Familiarity with Windows desktop and server environments (basic troubleshooting, configuration, patching).
- Basic networking knowledge (VPN, firewalls, switches, TCP/IP fundamentals).
- Comfort with ticketing systems, remote support tools, and asset management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.
- Proximity to our datacenter located in Temple Terrace, FL 33637.
Preferred but not
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud services (Azure, Microsoft 365), or scripting (PowerShell/Python).
- Experience with MSPs, datacenter operations, or render farms.
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+ or Microsoft certifications.
Reporting Structure
You’ll report to the Lead Systems Administrator, under the oversight of the Vice President of Technology.
