Systems Administrator Positions

Quecon is seeking a System Administrator to support the Design and Development team within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of bare-metal servers, workstations, and associated infrastructure in support of FAA's Time Based Flow Management (TBFM) system. This position requires hands-on hardware support (non-virtualized environment) and provides critical technical support for lab-based operations. Training will be provided for TBFM; however, candidates are expected to demonstrate strong foundational Linux, hardware, and networking expertise.

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust.

Must be a US citizen or 3-year permanent resident.

Full-time position reporting to the William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Egg Harbor Twp., New Jersey

Education requirements:

BS in Computer Science, Math or another technical degree with 10 or more years of relevant job experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8) systems.
  • Perform bare-metal installations using jump drives or DVDs.
  • Support Cisco UCS servers (C220, C240) and configure ILOM interfaces.
  • Configure and maintain DNS services (DNSmasq), sendmail, and Bacula backup software.
  • Configure RAID5 disk volumes and perform associated storage management tasks.
  • Provide general hardware support (PCs, printers, monitors, workstations) in lab environments.
  • Support TBFM system scenarios and study cases (training provided).
  • Perform basic Layer 3 networking tasks including switch port access and troubleshooting.
  • Document procedures, updates, and system configurations.
  • Collaborate with team members and FAA stakeholders for issue resolution and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with Linux system administration (RHEL 7/8).
  • Experience with bare-metal installations and troubleshooting (non-VM environment).
  • Knowledge of Cisco UCS hardware (C220/C240) and ILOM.
  • Familiarity with DNSmasq, sendmail, and Bacula (or equivalent tools).
  • RAID5 configuration and disk volume management experience.
  • Basic networking knowledge (Layer 3, switch port access).
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and problem
  • Technical proficiency in Linux and hardware support.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn complex systems (TBFM).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a lab environment.
  • Ability to work onsite full time(5 days per week).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Shell scripting and/or Java programming experience.
  • Previous experience supporting FAA systems.
  • Experience in lab-based, mission-critical environments.

Salary range: $68,000 - $95,000
