In this exciting position as a Systems Administrator in a growing IT department, you will work on a variety of technology projects that support all areas of Boston Dynamics. The role will sit in our Waltham office and report to our Infrastructure Manager in Waltham, MA.
Day to day activities:
Proactively maintain and develop relevant Linux and POSIX-like technology to support our software and hardware engineering services.
Automate systems solutions for various projects and operational needs.
Cultivate and maintain best practices for systems and services across environments.
Detect, diagnose, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network operational issues.
Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hotfixes for workstations, servers, and network hardware.
Create, modify, and maintain scripts or applications to help automate or execute tasks.
Provide input on the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of systems in all environments.
Collaborate with team members to develop automation strategies, deployment processes, and infrastructure improvements.
Provide escalation support, mentorship, and guidance to the service desk and junior admins.
Assist the InfoSec team with remediating vulnerabilities within your domain.
Participate in an on-call rotation with the infrastructure team
Manage and resolve infrastructure tickets in our ITSM system
Desired skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar working environment
In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux distributions such as Ubuntu
Familiarity with VMWare and SAN and NAS storage management
Proficiency in Bash,Powershell, and/or Python scripting
Experience with development and infrastructure automation tools, such as Docker, Puppet, and Ansible
Solid knowledge of networking protocols, such as DNS, HTTPS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, and knowledge of applications to host them, such as Nginx, HAProxy, BIND, postfix
Additional Linux certifications (RHCT, RHCE, and LPIC) will be considered an advantage
Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of a broader, distributed team
