Program Details:
This program supports the Department of State's Bureau of Diplomatic Technology by providing IT Operations and Maintenance services that modernize and sustain the networks, applications, and databases supporting U.S. consular systems and services worldwide.
A key part of this effort involves maintaining and improving the hardware and software platforms used at U.S. Passport Offices and Agencies, ensuring that mission-critical consular applications run efficiently and securely. The Systems Administrator will provide technical support to domestic consular facilities while working closely with government administrators.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, servers, and peripheral devices, including both Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.
Plan, install, and maintain software and hardware for servers and workstations, including support for consular applications, Active Directory accounts, passwords, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and other locally installed applications.
Apply and manage system security updates, vendor patches, vSphere Installation Bundles (VIBs), and SQL database maintenance.
Coordinate with government stakeholders to communicate and mitigate risks affecting IT services, including power outages, environmental incidents, maintenance activities, or vendor issues.
Plan and execute system upgrades, monitor performance post-deployment, replace or retire hardware and software as needed, and prepare for system consolidations.
Perform regular backups, restores, and ongoing management of systems, software, and hardware assets.
Monitor and document system performance, configurations, and changes; maintain accurate network topology diagrams and technical documentation.
Ensure server and workstation security by remediating vulnerabilities and maintaining Microsoft Defender compliance.
Provide maintenance and repair for all hardware components, including servers, workstations, scanners, barcode readers, printers, and chip/read devices.
Manage Active Directory service accounts, user permissions, and badge login administration.
Provide end-user support for Microsoft Office and other software applications.
Maintain accurate configuration management records for hardware, software, data, and permissions.
Support system availability, efficiency, and security for all deployed technologies.
Track and report all incidents and service requests using the ServiceNow ticketing system.
Support the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) by following Department of State security and internal control policies.
Ensure all incidents are logged and managed in accordance with government requirements.
