Systems Administrator Positions

Join Point Solutions Group's Federal Services Team supporting satellite communications engineering efforts on a major defense contract! We are hiring a Systems Admin/Engineer to provide technical support for missile and space infrastructure. Candidates must have an active Secret Clearance to be considered, and be able to support on site in Sunnyvale, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Systems administration and help desk expertise for sustainment/development environments covering Windows, Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and other operating systems.
  • Configuration, data management, and software builds using Change Management (CM) tools.
  • Collaboration with functional teams to resolve findings/issues and participate in Agile activities.
  • Development and application of cybersecurity solutions, ensuring compliance with computer security policy and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Performance of software installs, updates, and patches, including troubleshooting and support.
  • Maintenance and development of documentation, including Version Description Documents (VDDs) and job aides.
  • Support for Digital Transformation activities, CDRL preparations, and ad hoc projects.
  • Generation and documentation of metrics, tracking and documenting all efforts.
  • Travel to remote sites as needed to perform efforts.
  • Provision of support across the program information systems, including troubleshooting and remediation of issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Conduct safe and media audits, control documents and media, and generate, label, and ship media.
  • Perform Restricted Data (RD) scans and baseline existing and new documents in SharePoint.
  • Use project management tools, such as Jira, to support efforts.
  • Develop and apply scripts to automate work where possible.
  • Monitor computer system usage, network links, and virtual environments.
  • Ensure compliance with Change Management (CM) processes and apply Operating System updates, antivirus, and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) patching/updates.
  • Troubleshoot Virtual Memory System (VMS) and Solaris issues, and execute and monitor performance of VMS and Solaris system backups.
  • Perform periodic Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software assessments and maintain Security Content Automation Protocol/Security Technical Information Guide (SCAP/STIGS) tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret
  • BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity or a related technical field with 0-3 years of professional experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Experience with Windows, or Linux based infrastructure support
  • Knowledge of basic IT security principles
