Systel is searching for an experienced systems administrator looking to grow their knowledge and experience. The candidate will join a team that is responsible for maintaining critical information systems, servers, assets, and network infrastructure. Technology at Systel is continually evolving so a successful candidate will also be involved with research, innovation, and implementation of IT systems and processes such as disaster recovery, network monitoring, network segmentation, and high availability. Experience supporting all aspects of a Microsoft Windows network including Microsoft and third-party applications, Windows servers, WAN, LAN, and WLAN connectivity is required.

Responsibilities:

Systems Administrator
 
  • Assign, update, and maintain security permissions
  • Build, test, and deploy servers and network equipment as needed
  • Install, test, and deploy business applications as needed
  • Enforce backup and recovery practices to minimize business loss
  • Manage Systel network infrastructure and equipment while enforcing network policies
  • Keep up with the latest industry trends and technology by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations
Systems Maintenance
  • Use analytics and metrics to proactively monitor severs, applications, and networks.
  • Investigate and resolve problems when alerted by a user or monitoring system
  • Upgrade business critical servers & applications on a regular basis with minimal impact on users
  • Upgrade network infrastructure on a regular basis with minimal impact on users
  • Perform system audits periodically to ensure performance and compliance with IT Policy
Business Initiatives
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
  • Partner with internal/external partners to research, design, and implement IT solutions for business needs
  • Communicate project status, activities, and achievements
IT Support
  • Respond to and resolve support requests from users within defined SLAs
  • Install and configure hardware/software according to IT policy and user needs
  • Training or directing users on the correct use of software and hardware
Documentation
  • Accurately maintain records of repair, transactions, problems, and action taken
  • Participate in defining and following department standards in documentation
  • Actively document new processes and procedures
  • Actively work to improve documentation
  • All other assigned tasks and duties
  • All work activities shall be conducted in a manner that supports Systel’s Quality Manual, Quality Policy, Quality Objectives, System Level Procedures (SLP) and Work Instructions (WI).
Education and Experience
  • Degree in Information Technology or related field. Alternatively, vocational schooling with IT coursework.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in systems administration or similar positions
  • Systems design and integration
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Windows Server 2016+
  • Advanced knowledge of computer internals to build a workstation from individual parts
  • Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL
  • Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure components such as firewalls, routers, switches, load balancers, DNS and SANS
  • Ability to configure and test Windows servers and workstations.
  • Familiar with software/equipment used in the processing, repair, and testing of computers.
  • Ability to work with and train others in all aspects of the job and job requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate the strengths weaknesses of recommended solutions of problems and recommend solutions and procedures regarding the repair and processing of repairs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Cloud computing (specifically Micsrosoft Azure)
  • Information Technology certifications such as Microsoft, A+, N+ are a plus.
