GEI Consultants is a nationally recognized engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices across North America. We are seeking a highly skilled an experienced Desktop Support Technician to join our IT Support Team in Woburn, MA. This role will be part of a collaborative, cross-regional team with colleagues in Sacramento, Green Bay, and Ontario, Canada, supporting over 1,700 employees in both office and remote environments. The Desktop Support Technician will provide Tier 1, front-line technical support, to local and remote employees. This includes assisting with desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripherals, and basic networking. You’ll help ensure users stay productive by delivering high-quality, timely technical assistance.
 
Essential Responsibilities & Duties 
  • User Support: Assist end users with issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity via phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ticket Queue Management: Assign tickets to appropriate staff as they come in.
  • Ticket Management: Log and manage incoming tickets using JitBit or similar ticketing systems. Escalate issues as necessary.
  • Device Setup: Configure and deploy Windows laptops, desktops, and peripherals following company standards.
  • User Onboarding: Assist in preparing and delivering laptops and setting up accounts for new hires.
  • Software Support: Provide support for Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive) and others.
  • Mobile Devices: Help set up and support mobile phones and smart devices.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate records and documentation; contribute to the internal knowledge base.
  • Team Collaboration: Partner with senior technicians on more advanced troubleshooting and project-based work.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional IT support tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 
  • Education: Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, equivalent work experience accepted; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience
    • 1–3 years of experience in desktop or helpdesk support
    • Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and basic Active Directory tasks
    • Experience with Azure AD, AutoPilot and Intune is a plus, but not required
    • Experience with imaging Intune or MDT
    • Familiar with Dell and HP computers is a plus
  • Technical Proficiency
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
    • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
    • Familiar with CrowdStrike Endpoint Protection is a plus
    • Familiar with Airlock
    • Willingness to learn and grow in a team environment
    • Ability to follow procedures and provide consistent support
Preferred Certifications (not required but beneficial)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • ITIL Foundation
