Summary

On a part-time basis, this position performs technical computer maintenance, network administration, hardware and software support for a Microsoft (MS) Windows network. Please note that this position is only eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS). No additional City benefits apply to this role.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

This position is supervised by the Assistant Information Technology Administrator.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None


Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for providing first tier support to all users of the City’s computer network
  • Assists in the support of the city’s network helpdesk
  • Assists in the distribution, maintenance, and disposal of all city computer equipment
  • Assists with the daily administration of MS Servers and VMware
  • Assists in the administration of MS Office 365
  • Assists in the administration of city’s Storage Area Network (SAN)
  • Prioritizes daily tasks for optimal network performance
  • Provides input to determine network hardware and software requirements
  • Maintains inventory of all computer equipment
  • Maintains twenty-four-hour contact and availability for emergency situations as needed
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
PERIPHERAL DUTIES:
  • Ability to participate on committees and special projects as needed
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as department needs require
  • Ability to operate a City vehicle as department needs require

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associates Degree in a computer related field preferred, and
  • One (1) year experience administering a MS Windows network, and 
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting all aspects of computer hardware and software
  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) - Active Directory and Network Infrastructure preferred
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) preferred
  • Any related combination of training and experience

Special Qualifications/Preferences

  •  Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a clean driving record
