Position Description
Reporting to the Director, Information Technology (IT), the Network Administrator provides broad technical support to achieve effective, efficient, and uninterrupted technology operations. Core responsibilities include managing a hybrid network infrastructure by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network equipment, access, and protocols to maximize performance, security, and reliability. The role also supports Microsoft O365 administration including Hybrid Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange Management Center permissions and delegations and supports critical security administration and monitoring. In addition, the Network Administrator provides select Help Desk morning coverage, and occasional backup support to deliver end-user hardware and software support. This position works closely with the Director-IT to improve operational capabilities, efficiencies and user experiences and support strategic goals related to existing, upgraded, or new technologies through advance planning and design of required network and equipment infrastructure.
Network Administration:
- Manage the wired and wireless network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance; includes day-to-day monitoring and issue resolution to support efficient business operations and a strong security environment for a hybrid workforce. Network management services to support information security and disaster recovery environments, uninterrupted authorized user network drive access, internet access and web support, telecommunications, multifunction/copier/printer devices and both end-user and meeting room audiovisual capabilities
- Deploy network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks; manage network devices located in the server room, such as routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and load balancers; identify network enhancement opportunities and recommend design improvements
- Establish and ensure network and endpoint monitoring protocols using cloud platform tools to support uptime and protect network systems; proactive measures to assess scalability, performance, and network security comply with AAAHC policies; conduct network maintenance and system upgrades (service packs, patches, and other security configurations) to support operational uptime and protect networks from vulnerabilities and external threats; identifies required action to optimize network storage on servers
- Support third-party application single sign-on site access and/or email integrations
- Install, configure, and manage vSphere environments, update antivirus protection software and data security systems
- Deploy networking policies for Windows-based (virtual and on-prem) operating systems, servers, application databases, database storage, security appliances and cloud-based systems by creating Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to automate the deployment of software updates across all computers in the domain using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Management Tool
- Update and maintain network operations center configurations, policies, and procedures documentation (e.g., Network Security Assessments, Network Operations Center (NOC) Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Incident Reports)
- Assist with staff cybersecurity training administration and deployment based on network and endpoint monitoring and analyses to strengthen the company’s security posture
- Contribute network operational metrics to Director-IT for inclusion in the divisional dashboard and monthly report, incorporating LAN/WAN network infrastructure utilization, and action recommendations to ensure software and hardware upgrades are deployed promptly to mitigate risks
- As directed by the Director-IT, support system security assessment project execution and remediation
Microsoft Administration:
- Administer Hybrid Active Directory (AD) and Microsoft Exchange Management Center (EMC) accounts, groups, and computer permissions to leverage Microsoft 365 Enterprise licenses to optimize business operations
- Monitor the local Microsoft Exchange server; perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, and security configurations
- Handle all Microsoft 365 users and groups enrollment activations and deactivations in accordance with AAAHC retention policies,
- Initiate recommendations to optimize use of our Microsoft licensing by leveraging functionalities (Exchange, Intra, Intune, OneDrive, SharePoint, Power Platform and Teams) using the applicable administration management console and PowerShell command line interface (CLI) to automate manual processes
- Create and maintain Microsoft administrator policies and procedures
- Review monthly Microsoft billing to determine appropriate billing volumes and costs for Director-IT approval
- In collaboration with the Director-IT, develop a long-term Microsoft strategy that evaluates a shift from hybrid configuration with on-premise Exchange server to a fully cloud-based environment
Service Desk and End User Support
- Serve as primary Help Desk support 1-2 hours (~7:30-9:00 am) daily to ensure adequate business hours coverage and provide backup to the IT Specialist during high-volume, time-sensitive periods, as well as absences
- Deliver high-quality, timely customer service, in accordance with established service levels, to key stakeholder groups, providing technical hardware and software support to ensure role-based access and connectivity to AAAHC applications and network drives
- Provide Level 2/3 IT support and troubleshooting to resolve issues; consults with vendors and Director-IT for problem resolution
- Deploy services by using the most effective diagnostic means to restore productivity and achieve satisfaction, including deskside support, phone, virtual meeting and/ or email solutions based on urgency and priorities
- Ensure security protocols remain in place in delivering troubleshooting support; uses and maintains the designated Help Desk tracking system to document all support requests
- Recommend communications, training, and self-service support measures to advance organizational understanding and adoption of required actions to heighten productivity and reduce helpdesk volumes; contribute to end-user knowledge base to support self-service and issue resolution
- Provide back-up support as needed for new equipment deployment (laptops, A/V equipment) and asset inventory and inspection designed to ensure accurate counts and secure and productive assets
Minimum Qualifications and Job-specific Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of experience
- Professional Certifications:
- Required - CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert certification
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP) - DCV
- Four to five years of progressively responsible experience in Network Administration, with at least three years of Level 2 or higher computer support
- Intermediate/Advanced Excel skills to support data analyses using large data sets and divisional metrics reporting
- Advanced skills configuring and administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra, Intune, and Autopilot project initiatives and SharePoint, Microsoft Exchange PowerShell skills in a hybrid environment
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to document and explain technical processes clearly and concisely to both IT professional staff and non-technical end-users
- Service level agreement monitoring and reporting experience, including incident report preparation
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP} or higher (CCIE and/or CISSP highly valued)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- CVMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) - DCV
Working Conditions & Travel Expectations
- Occasional evening conference calls and weekend onsite or remote support meetings (e.g., software/hardware upgrades, association, client, and committee meetings); average not to exceed 3 calls/quarter and 3 meetings/quarter
- Estimated travel: <5% includes weekends
Physical Requirements
- Light work: Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.
