The Network Administrator is responsible to manage, monitor, maintain and enhance the USS data network, including LAN, wireless, data center and various complementary technologies employed in a heavy-industry environment. The Network Administrator provides technology expertise and process leadership in the application of new and existing technologies in order to deliver comprehensive solutions to USS customers, with a focus on steel making and related plant operations areas.
Major Responsibilities:- Responsible to all aspects of the health and stability of the USS data network at the Mon Valley plant locations including Clairton, Edgar Thomson, Irvin and Fairless Works
- Support for data network incident and event management including investigation, troubleshooting, reporting, resolution, root cause analysis and corrective action management including on-call and off-hours support
- Designs network solutions using approved, standard technology in cooperation with peers, vendors and partners
- Manages Data Networking support of key customer projects and contributes to projects across the entire organization
- Investigates new technology and innovative solutions including identification, testing and business case development
- Monitors data networks for performance, security and stability – takes action to identify trends and proactively address issues
- Contributes to core business processes including business plan development, expense tracking, project planning & development, demand plan management, inventory tracking, standards compliance, audit coordination, and disaster recovery/business continuity planning
Minimum Requirements: - Demonstrated experience supporting data networking technologies in an enterprise environment, including:
- LAN switching and routing in a Cisco enterprise network environment
- Wireless LAN support including RF fundamentals, design & configuration, security management, troubleshooting and monitoring
Desired Qualifications: - OT / Process Automation networking and related technologies
- Advance IP routing experience, including BGP protocol proficiency
- Data center network support including Cisco Nexus platform
- IP Telephony in a Cisco environment including Call Manager, Unity and related platforms
- Advanced Network Security technology and solutions (Firewall, Network Admission Control)
- Experience with the following technology or solutions is a plus:
- WAN / BGP routing
- Server administration including Virtualization technology (VMWare/other)
- Enterprise storage solutions including SAN / FCoIP / iSCSI and related technology
- Virtual desktop solutions
Education:- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent Enterprise IT support experience
- Cisco / Network certification (CCNA or greater) preferred
