General Summary:
The Network Administrator/Technician III ensures the stable operation of the computer network for Vilonia School District students, administrators, faculty and other authorized users. This work includes repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. This employee is responsible for maintaining the operation and integrity of local area networks, file servers, and workstations. The Network Administrator/Technology Technician III supports the Director of Technology in the design, configuration, and installation of LAN, WAN and file servers.
Qualifications:
- An associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- Two years’ experience in a network environment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
- Strong knowledge of computers and related technologies
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of LAN and WAN
- Ability to lead technical support staff
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installs, configures, and administers Windows, VMware ESXi servers and Windows workstations. Provides high level support for Windows server applications and OS.
- Manage users, groups and permissions with Active Directory
- Administer and maintain virtual environments and physical hosts.
- Maintains and supports a complex network consisting of switches, routers, and servers
- Works with the Director of Technology in the development and implementation of all technical aspects of the local technology plan and district’s backup/disaster recovery system to ensure business continuity.
- Ensure the maintenance of all local area networks by tracking significant problems, monitoring performance, and installing upgrades to hardware and software
- Maintains Unified Communications, VoIP, and any related equipment, services, and platforms.
- Creates and manages scripts for automation of common tasks.
- Administers the school’s Web filtering Maintains various reports on web activity and network usage.
- Monitors and evaluates all repair and maintenance work done by the technical support staff to ensure reliability of performance
- Supervise and/or perform the installation of hardware, software, and related peripherals
- Assist with the training for technical support staff
- Attend classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of equipment and operating
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to manually move, lift, carry, pull at least 30 lbs.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, and bend.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to work in noisy, crowded environments.
- Must be able to drive a vehicle.
- Must be able to work around dust, fumes and various odors.
