About ERP and the Project

Energy Resilience Partners, LLC (ERP) is a tribally led SBA 8(a) federal contractor advancing energy resilience and mission assurance. ERP is developing a contingent project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.

Position Summary

Provide professional fire-protection engineering oversight for the BESS enclosure wet-pipe sprinkler and associated fire/life-safety interfaces. The QFPE reviews and stamps required submittals, performs construction surveillance, witnesses testing, and certifies compliant installation.

What You Will Do

  • Prepare or directly supervise required shop drawings and hydraulic calculations and review complete SD-02/SD-03/SD-05 packages.
  • Affix PE stamp/signature to required drawings, calculations, material data, review letters, and certificates.
  • Perform rough-in surveillance before concealment and coordinate sprinkler, fire alarm, switchgear, BESS, water supply, and seismic interfaces.
  • Attend pre-Government testing, witness final Government testing, verify correction of deficiencies, and issue compliant-installation documentation.
  • Support RFIs, field changes, closeout, test certificates, and final installation review.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer license and successful completion of the NCEES fire protection engineering examination.
  • Relevant fire-protection engineering experience with NFPA 13 sprinkler design, hydraulic calculations, submittal review, construction surveillance, and acceptance testing.
  • Ability to seal required documents in an accepted jurisdiction and obtain Puerto Rico registration if required.
  • Ability to travel to Puerto Rico for required inspections and tests.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BESS/NFPA 855/UL 9540/9540A, federal/DoD, fire alarm, seismic bracing, and USACE submittal experience.
  • Spanish proficiency.

Field, Travel and Employment Conditions

  • This is a contingent opportunity dependent on contract award/NTP, project funding, final staffing authorization, Government acceptance when required, and successful installation-access processing.
  • When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, follow drug-free workplace and conduct requirements, and protect FCI/CUI using only authorized systems and procedures.
