JOB OVERVIEW:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for administering and maintaining computer systems and networks to ensure optimal and secure operation. In this role you will provide setup and maintenance of the computer environment by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, installing hardware and software, and supporting the internal IT helpdesk. You will be responsible for administration, monitoring, and support of the company’s computers, printers, scanners, phones, security systems, servers, and related network equipment. This is a full-time, onsite position based at our IT office in Momence, IL with regular travel between facilities within Momence, Kankakee, Manteno, and Chicago – all in Illinois – as well as Crown Point, Indiana.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide helpdesk support and resolve requests and problems to the end user’s satisfaction.
Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT Helpdesk.
Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for end user equipment.
Utilize and maintain the helpdesk tracking software.
Assist with onboarding of new users.
Ensure each workstation has the appropriate hardware setup.
Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software.
Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware and software images.
Create users and assign users and computers to proper locations in Active Directory.
Set up phones for new users.
Office 365 Administration.
Basic networking (connectivity, PoE, DHCP, DNS, WiFi, etc.)
Follow up with users on ticket status, progress, next steps and resolutions.
JOB EXPERIENCE:
Experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related technical role is preferred. Familiarity with helpdesk support, hardware/software installation, Active Directory, Office 365 administration, and basic networking is a plus. Relevant internships, certifications, or hands-on technical projects may be considered in lieu of formal work experience.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Fundamental understanding of hardware and software installation and troubleshooting in a desktop computing environment.
Familiarity with network connectivity and ability to troubleshoot connectivity problems.
Understanding of PC/Mac operating systems, software, applications, hardware and networks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Outlook, and browsers.
Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.
Effective time management skills.
Organizational skills with emphasis on detail and follow-through.
Excellent listening skills with the ability to empathize with the end user and focus on client service.
Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner.
Maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
Demonstrate initiative in seeking out resolutions to problems.
Communicating verbally and in writing in a concise and effective manner with good proofing skills.
Access to reliable transportation for travel between sites.
EDUCATION:
An associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field is .
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Sit and use a computer for a long period of time.
Several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, bending or carrying light loads.
Manual and physical dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
Manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work.
Sufficient near vision acuity to read information on computer display screen, hand-written forms, and printed on paper.
Specific vision requirement include the ability to see at close range, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to walk up and down stairs and ramps.
Ability to climb ladders.
Use of personal protective equipment including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection, and head protection.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor office environment, may on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
