Description:
· Linux, Mac OSX system administrator
· Ability to work in OS layer of enterprise applications
· Desire to support entire applications
· Creative outside-the-box thinking and solutions
· Perform a daily support checks every morning and send email out to team with updates, and open incidents with Operations as necessary
· Manage Kiosk (Mac Mini based) deployments and maintenance
· Monitor Mac Minis for any issues
· Monitor all servers for any issues
· Handle all opening of change tickets and incidents for TIAA Today
· Attend Meetings involving database/infrastructure changes and coordinate with development team and support
· Be on call 24/7 to be able to triage any system issues and notify Operations of any disruptions
· Manage on call lists and dev staff rotation
· Monitor the generic TIAA Today mailbox for any issues or feature requests
Experience to include:
· Creating and maintaining supporting documentation.
· Written and verbal communication of assignment status, in an Agile environment.
· Troubleshooting application and environment issues.
· Performing and aiding quality assurance testing.
· Performing and aiding in performance testing.
· Scripting at the OS layer to automate and manage the environment.
Qualifications:
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong understanding of 3 tier architectures and connectivities.
· Strong understanding of Apache, WebLogic, and Oracle tuning and configuration options.
· Strong database skills querying data efficiently in a JDBC environment, including query analysis with explain plan, and advanced Oracle techniques like partitioning.
· Strong understanding of SOA and layered architectures.
· Extensive experience with J2EE platform and Java application support
· Good troubleshooting skills including cross browser, cross platform experience
· Working knowledge of three tier architectures and systems.
· Knowledge of Presentation Layer technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML, DHTML, Ajax, etc.)
· Ability to learn new technologies and skills quickly
· College degree in Computer Science, engineering or Information Technology.
Nice to have:
· Experience with WebLogic Server support, tuning and maintenance, including patching
· Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) support, tuning and maintenance
· Experience with Apple Remote Desktop and Mac OSX on the Mac Mini platform
· Experience with Application Monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Wily, Gomez, VMWare, etc.
