Professional-Technical Class I Computer Desktop Support Technician
Reports to: Technology Services Salary: $37.67 - $39.97/hour Schedule: 8 hrs/day (expected through December 31st, 2025)
General Purpose: Responsible for desktop installations, maintenance, repair, and support services for all hardware and software used by end users in the district. This position provides the primary day to day support and repair for desktop and laptop computers
Essential Functions:
Configure and install hardware, software, and equipment as required. This can include desktop and laptop computers, printers, document cameras, and other technology used in the classrooms and buildings.
Provide troubleshooting, technical support and maintenance for district software and hardware.
Work with staff and end users regarding technology issues and provide support as needed.
Maintain inventory records of software, hardware, and other technology equipment for assigned schools and/or buildings.
Work with other department staff to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the technology department.
Work closely with building computer lab staff to problem solve issues and provide solutions.
Complete all required reports and documentation as required to provide audit trails of work needed and completed.
Clean and remove viruses as needed.
Travel from office and between assigned buildings.
Other related duties as assigned by the deputy superintendent to ensure the efficient operations of the department in support of the district.

Qualifications:
1. Successful experience as a computer desktop support technician. 2. High degree of computer literacy. 3. Working knowledge of software and hardware system configurations, including: DOS, Windows, Thin Client Computing, Citrix. 4. Working knowledge of district productivity applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook in an Exchange environment, Microsoft Publisher. 5. Experience with and a working knowledge of generally accepted computer hardware repair practices. 6. Experience installing hardware and software. 7. Ability to provide proactive user support. 8. Associated degree in computer science, information science, or two year’s experience with maintenance and management of Windows-based desktop computers or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 9. Daytime travel in district. Possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. 10. Ability to move up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, store and remove materials from inventories. 11. Supports the value of K-12 education.

Benefits: School Employee Benefit Board (SEBB) Eligibility determination: All eligibility determinations are based on rules in Chapters 182-30 and 182-31 of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC). If the position is anticipated to work a minimum of 630 hours in a school year, then that position would be deemed benefit eligible. SEBB benefits include medical, vision, dental, long-term disability and life insurance. Supplemental coverages are also available.
Retirement Eligibility determination: A certificated position participates in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) which requires at least 5 months of 70 or more hours of compensated employment during a school year to be eligible for Washington State Retirement. A classified position participates in the School Employee Retirement System (SERS) if the position is expected to require at least 5 months of 70 hours or more for two consecutive years (initially) of employment.
