The incumbent will also aid in problem solving with all issues related to the department.
Job Description
Riceland Foods is seeking a Network Administrator. The incumbent will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting network, servers and related equipment as well as providing administration and maintenance. The incumbent will also aid in problem solving with all issues related to the department.
Job Duties
1. Monitor and diagnose network performance issues.
2. Install, maintain and upgrade network and computer systems. This includes IBM Power Deployment and server installation.
3. Monitor the performance of the operating environment, looking for problem areas to offer possible solutions before they become a problem.
4. Ensure the production systems have satisfactory backup methods to reduce recovery time. Confirm the backup methods employed will satisfy the recovery from a total system outage, including Disaster Recovery.
5. Assist users, MIS internal and external, with daily problems they encounter.
6. Stay abreast of the latest techniques and offerings which may enhance the current environment.
7. Install and maintain AIX systems and hardware.
8. SAN administrator- responsible for storage area network which includes cable switches and Gateways in the network.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four year college or university and five years of related experience and/or training preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety or technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Regular contacts within the department and with other departments as needed.
EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Contacts with vendors as needed.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
