System/Network Administrator
Education:
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
Certifications:
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, and/or Cisco CCNA/CCNP are highly regarded.
- Specialized certifications like the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) can be beneficial.
Job Goal:
To ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the school district’s network infrastructure, supporting the educational and administrative activities by providing a secure, robust, and high-performance network environment.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain the district's network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement enhancements to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans, including data backup and system redundancy strategies, to maintain data safety and availability.
- Manage user access and security, ensuring compliance with district policies and protection against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Assist Computer Support Specialists with Student Device management/repair when needed.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance for the planning and implementation of new IT projects, including system upgrades and expansions.
- Troubleshoot network and system issues, resolving problems efficiently to minimize downtime.
- Maintain documentation of the network architecture, operational procedures, and inventory of IT assets.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on network operations, cyber security best practices, and the effective use of technology in their roles.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in network infrastructure and security to recommend improvements and innovations.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on computers and other equipment, including checking hard drive health, software updates, malware and virus removal, and physical cleaning. Supervision of part-time personnel may be required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Technology Director.
