We are looking for a talented System / Network Administrator to maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of our systems, including servers, networks, security, backups, and cloud services. We are an employee-owned environmental engineering firm focused on the planning, design, and oversight of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
This role is hybrid onsite 2-3 days per week in Irvine, CA
Job Duties:
- Administer computer networks, hardware, system software, applications, and all configurations.
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs) and software.
- Install and integrate new server hardware and applications, keeping systems updated with the latest software patches.
- Administer and maintain virtualized environments (e.g., Hyper-V, Citrix) and cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Monitor network performance and security to proactively identify and resolve issues and test for weaknesses.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network and system problems reported by end-users.
- Perform regular data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords within Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including anti-virus, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of the network and system infrastructure.
Ideal Background:
- 5+ years of experience in a system or network administration role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and client operating systems.
- Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory/Entra.
- Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V, Citrix) and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS).
- Familiarity with Sonicwall or similar networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP) and services (DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with security tools and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills.
- Experience with Linux administration is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
